Welcome to the RuNyanga Ultra Trail Run

We are super excited to bring you the 2nd Edition of the RuNyanga Ultra Trail Run.

Are you ready to experience the Eastern Highlands of Nyanga from a completely different perspective?

Then grab your entry now and come and join us for a weekend of challenging and fun trail running through the spectacular Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe.

Basic Route Information

Total distance: ~101 miles (162km)
Total elevation gain: ~ 18380 feet / 5600 meters

Compulsory Item Checklist

Runners are required to have the following with them at all times along the route:

  1. a small waist/back pack to carry two drinking bottles or a bladder (minimum of 1.5 litre capacity).
  2. emergency whistle
  3. GPS (handheld or watch) with race route pre-loaded
  4. fully charged mobile phone (keep in flight mode or switch off to conserve battery)
  5. full water proof jacket (taped seams & hood)
  6. long sleeve mid layer / fleece
  7. buff/beanie
  8. compression bandage / strapping
  9. space blanket
  10. reusable/plastic cup - no cup, no race
  11. torch/headlamp & 1 set of fresh batteries (1 in the torch/headlamp, and 1 spare)
  12. medical info card (provided in your race pack) – should a medic have to treat you in an emergency oout on the course, having your basic medical information on hand (blood type, allergies, medical aid no, emergency contact) is essential. Keep this in a ziploc bag in your pack.

You will be required to have all these items at registration. We will make a call on the day regarding what the final list of carried items will be, based on prevailing weather conditions at the time.

The following items are recommended to be in your pack.

  1. running peak or cap
  2. hiking / trekking poles
  3. sunglasses
  4. sun screen (IMPORTANT!)

Entry Information

Entries for the RuNyanga Ultra Trail Run are limited to 400 athletes in total.

These are allocated as follows:

100 Mile Ultra Trail Run - 50 Entries (40 @ STD Rate R4900 / $280 - 10 Early Birds @ R4400 / $240)

50 Mile Ultra Trail Run - 50 Entries (40 @ STD Rate R3700 / $210 - 10 Early Birds @ R3300 / $190)

50 km Ultra Trail Run - 100 Entries (75 @ STD Rate R3000 / $180 - 25 Early Birds @ R2700 / $160)

30 km Trail Run - 200 Entries (170 @ STD Rate R2200 / $140 - 30 Early Birds @ R1900 / $120 SOLD OUT)

Enter Online & Pay In CASH (Zimbabwe residents only)

To enter online and pay cash for your entry, please click on the relevant race you wish to enter below, and complete the entry form. Once you have entered, you will be sent an email with your entry details and instructions on how to pay in cash.

Please note: You will have 14 days to pay for your entry. your entry will only be confirmed upon receipt of payment.

Cancellations, deferrals and substitutions

We know things don’t always pan out as planned. Sometimes life just gets in the way.
As a result we have the following policies in place:

Any entry cancelled before July 31 2024 will get a 75% refund.
Any entry cancelled between Aug 1 & Aug 31 2024 will get a 50% refund.
Any entry cancelled after Aug 31 will forfeit the full entry fee.

Alternatively, instead of cancelling, your entry can also be deferred to 2025.

Any deferrals will incur the price difference between the 2024 and 2025 entry fees, along with a $10 / R200 administration fee.

Substitutions will be allowed up to 31 Aug 2024.
All substitutions will incur a R200 / $10 substitution fee.

Race Postponement

In the event we have to postpone the race, all entries will be carried over to the new date.
Should you not be able to make the new date, you will be entitled to receive a 75% refund, or a free deferral to the 2025 race.

Register as a Volunteer

Events like this require the help of volunteers.

Volunteering is hard work, but being part of the crew allows you to experience the race from a different perspective.

It’s a great way to contribute to the trail community, and you get a chance to see a little of what goes on behind the scenes to make events like this happen.

We pay in beer, hugs and discounted race entries for next years event or at our other races, so if you want to be part of the action, fill in the form.
